Description
Loud Mytham Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in 1879. It is constructed of slobbered sandstone rubble and has a slate roof. The building features a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. Originally, the entrance was located in the north-west wall, situated against the fireplace in the middle room, but this entrance is now blocked. To the left of the blocked entrance is a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window, while to the right is another blocked window with a hood.
On the first floor, there are two windows with two lights each and one window with four lights. The south-east wall includes a late 19th-century chamfered door surround that opens into the middle room. All windows are double chamfered with mullions and individual hoods. To the left of the door, there is a four-light window, and to the right, a formerly larger three-light window, followed by a two-light window and a three-light window. The first-floor windows have the following number of lights: four, five, two, two, and four.
The west gable features a three-light window on the ground floor and shows traces of blocked windows on both the first and attic floors. Historical records indicate that the house originally had a wide fireplace with an extensive arch before the 1879 rebuilding, which included a soot chamber above measuring eight or nine feet square, occupying the entire height of the roof.
