Description
Lee House, the Church of St. William of York, and the adjoining presbytery are Roman Catholic buildings from the mid-19th century. The church features scored render with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. Its north and south walls have projecting quoins at the west end and consist of three bays. The windows are surrounded by chamfered plain stone, with hoods and wooden cross windows that have diamond-pattern glazing and 4-centred heads for the upper lights. The west wall includes a moulded doorway with a 4-centred head and hood, and above it is a chamfered plain stone window surround with a hood. The gable has a coping topped with a cross finial. The presbytery, which is attached to the east of the church, is constructed of squared sandstone and also has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays with end stacks. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, set in chamfered stone surrounds with hoods. The door on the west wall features a moulded stone surround with a cornice hood.
