Description

The cottages at 2 and 4 Church Raike are a pair, originally a single house dating to the 17th century, and later altered. They are constructed of sandstone cobbles with a slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic. Each cottage now has one bay, with modern windows retaining fragments of their 17th-century surrounds. The doors are paired centrally, with plain stone surrounds; number 2 (on the right) has a modern porch. A continuous drip course runs across both floors, rising over four openings or former openings. On the first floor, the two central windows are blocked; on the ground floor, the two central windows have been replaced by doors. A blocked door is set into the ground floor at the far left, with a small blocked window above it on the first floor. Gable chimneys are present.
