Description
Edisford Bridge is a bridge over the River Ribble, likely dating from the late medieval period. It was widened towards the south and partly rebuilt in the early 19th century. The bridge is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features five arches, with the second arch from the east being wider than the others. Most of the arches are segmental, except for the third and fourth arches on the north side, which are pointed and have stone ribs on their soffits. The bridge has triangular cutwaters and solid parapets that include a string course and weathered coping. Part of this bridge is located in the parish of Clitheroe.
