Description
Worston Old Hall is a house that likely dates from the early 19th century, though it may incorporate earlier elements. It is constructed from sandstone rubble, with pebbledash on most of the exterior except for the porch, which features sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and includes a two-storey gabled porch.
The windows are sashed with glazing bars and are set in plain stone surrounds. To the left of the porch, there is one bay, while to the right, there are two windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The ground floor windows on either side of the porch are tripartite, featuring timber mullions, with the outer lights fixed. The first-floor porch window is of 19th-century design, consisting of two lights with a chamfered mullion. The porch door has plain reveals.
Above the first floor of the porch, there are three carved shields: one displays the arms of England, another features a rampant lion, and the third shows three fishes, which represent the arms of Whalley Abbey. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
