Description
Nos. 55 and 57 Downham Road are a pair of houses built around 1800. They are constructed from squared limestone with sandstone dressings and feature a stone slate roof. Each house is two storeys high and consists of one bay. The windows have plain stone surrounds and square mullions, with tripartite windows on the ground floor and two-light windows on the first floor. All windows include glazing bars, with the central lights on the ground floor being sashed, as well as the left-hand light on the first floor of No. 57. Each house has a door with a plain stone surround located to the right of the bay, and there are chimneys positioned to the left of each house.
