Description

The Lamb Hotel and an adjoining shop date from the mid-19th century and have been altered since their original construction. The building is stuccoed over brick with sandstone dressings, and has a slate roof. It follows a double-depth plan.

No. 83, The Lamb Hotel, has a symmetrical facade with three windows. It features a plinth, pilasters to the ground floor, and a prominent semi-circular oriel window on the first floor. The oriel window is supported by two slender iron columns and contains three curved sash windows. The ground-floor windows have aprons, raised sills, moulded surrounds, and altered glazing. Upper-floor windows have moulded architraves. A moulded gutter cornice runs along the top, and chimney stacks are visible on the side walls. The rear of the building includes a ground-floor addition and altered windows above. The interior has also been altered.

No. 84, the adjoining shop, has a 20th-century shop front at ground level. The first floor features two widely-spaced four-pane sash windows, and the second floor has three similar windows, with the central window being smaller. A moulded gutter cornice continues from No. 83 to the left. The rear and interior of No. 84 were not inspected.
