Description
This barn, located approximately 120 metres southeast of Old Lea Hall Farmhouse, dates from the early 17th century or earlier. It has undergone alterations, with parts demolished and reconstructed in the 20th century. The structure is made of handmade brick on a plinth of sandstone blocks for the north and west walls, while the east wall features coursed sandstone blocks finished with common brick. The roof is covered with slate and stone slate on the west slope. The barn includes slit breathers, some of which are coupled. The north gable displays the old gable line of a formerly lower roof, with the walls raised about 10 courses above it. Inside, there are seven bays supported by collar trusses with angle struts. This barn is listed for its group value with Old Lea Hall Farmhouse, as it is one of only two farm buildings remaining from the former manor house site.
