Description
9 Winckley Square is a town house, now used as an office, which has been integrated with a 20th-century block to the right. It was built in the early 19th century and has undergone alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It features a double-depth single-fronted plan, three storeys over a cellar, and three bays. The exterior includes an ashlar plinth, a first-floor band, a plain frieze, a moulded cornice, and a low blocking course.
The third bay has a wide elliptical-headed doorway with gauged brick voussoirs, set-in Tuscan columns, wide hollow-moulded jambs, and a panelled door that is now fixed, along with a fanlight featuring radiating glazing bars. The sashed windows do not have glazing bars, all are set on raised sills, and those on the ground and first floors have wedge lintels. The pitched roof is now missing chimneys. The interior has been altered.
