Description

This is a town house, now used as an office, dating from approximately the 1830s, and altered since its original construction. It is located in a row that includes numbers 49 Chaddock Street to the left and numbers 12 to 15 Cross Street to the right. The building is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It has a double-depth single-fronted plan with a rear extension. The building is two storeys high, including a cellar, and has two bays. Architectural details include a first-floor sill band, a narrow frieze, and a moulded cornice that is continuous with the adjacent buildings. The original front door, located to the left and accessed by two steps, is round-headed, set within a doorcase of engaged Tuscan columns with square abaci and a shallow cornice. The door itself is six-panelled and the fanlight has been altered. A small cellar window with a rectangular lintel is located to the right, along with a wide segmental-headed window at ground floor, likely a 20th-century alteration. The first floor has two windows with wedge lintels, both sash windows without glazing bars. A chimney is located on the front slope, adjacent to number 12 to the right. The rear of the property was not inspected. The interior has been altered.
