Description
Swinden Bridge Number 142 is a roving bridge built in 1795, designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a single elliptical arch made of rusticated voussoirs. The bridge has a plain parapet that was raised slightly at a later date. Its curved abutments end in piers, and a handrail extends down to the ground beyond the pier at the south-east corner, where the towing path descends to pass under the arch.
