Description
The Cruck Barn at Pendle Heritage Centre is a former grain and threshing barn dating from the late 16th century, with 20th-century stone cladding. Originally listed as the barn to the west of White House Farmhouse in Cliviger, Burnley, Lancashire, it was dismantled and re-erected at its current location between 1990 and 1991. The barn was initially entirely timber framed and consists of four bays with three full-cruck trusses; the end crucks were lost when the stone cladding was added in the 17th or 18th century. Each truss features collars and yokes, with associated wall posts pegged into ties and the feet of the blades. There is a fragmentary survival of wall plates and side purlins. The stone cladding includes reused materials, with some detailing brought from other locations. The building was originally listed under the parish of Cliviger in the Borough of Burnley but is now situated in the parish of Barrowford in the District of Pendle.
