Description

Greenhead Manor is a Grade II* listed house dating from the mid-17th century. The front is constructed of coursed rubble, while the rear features dressed stone. It has quoins and a stone slate roof with stone coping and kneelers, topped with pinnacles on the left side. The building has both central and end chimneys and follows a two-cell plan with a two-storey outshut.

The front facade includes a central three-storey porch with a cambered arched doorway and a studded door. Above the porch, the first floor features a three-light window with a dripstone and a moulded opening that likely once held a datestone. Under the gable, there is a three-light ogee window with a dripstone. The ground floor of the main building has one six-light stone mullion window and one eight-light window with king mullions, both equipped with dripstones. The first floor contains two five-light windows and two two-light windows, all with dripstones above. Additionally, there are two small three-light windows located under the eaves.

Inside, the manor boasts a large inglenook fireplace and moulded stone doorways. The upstairs features two plaster ceilings; one is decorated with circular and lozenge panels adorned with roses, while the other has a pendant roundel and a cornice in relief. There are also plaster panels above the fireplace upstairs. This is a high-status house with many surviving historical features.
