Description
The Cemetery Chapel on Walton Lane was built in 1895 and is constructed of stone with a slate roof. It is a single-storey building with a symmetrical design, featuring twin chapels connected by an archway that has a two-centred head. The archway includes multiple mouldings and voussoirs and is gabled above. A square tower with a trefoil-headed window and an octagonal spire rises above the chapels. Each flanking chapel has a gabled porch and a two-centred arch-headed window adorned with geometrical tracery.
The outer section of the chapel has a flat roof and is castellated, with a doorway in the right-hand chapel that has chamfered reveals. Behind the twin gables, which are higher, there is a decorated chimney stack on the outer return. The outer flat-roofed section features a moulded balustrade. The higher gable and balustrade are supported by buttresses with crocketed pinnacles, and there is a central arch and tower. The spire is decorated with crocketed details, and finials are present on all peaks.
