Description
The George and Dragon Public House is a house that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the late 18th century and underwent alterations around 1900. The building is rendered with painted ashlar dressings and has slate roofs. It features a double-depth plan with three storeys above a cellar and two bays, highlighted by projecting quoins.
On the ground floor, there is a recessed timber canted bay window with etched glass that reads 'George and Dragon Hotel' and 'Yates' Ales'. The upper storeys are fitted with late 20th-century casements that have glazing bars, set in plain stone surrounds. The entrance door consists of 12 raised and fielded panels and is recessed within a plain stone surround, accessed by three external stone steps and bordered by iron railings. A large chimney is located on the left side of the building.
