Description
Brunton's Warehouse, located on St George's Quay in Lancaster, is a mid-18th century building that has been converted and altered around 1980. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. It has a gable facing the road and a projecting verge over the central part of its width. The building is approximately 15 meters deep and has a facade that is about 6 meters wide. It consists of four storeys above a cellar, which has a blocked opening on the right side. The corners of the building have chamfered quoins. There is a central loading slot that now includes balconies on each floor, framed by a plain stone surround. The other windows also have similar stone surrounds and were fitted with glazing around 1980. The left-hand window on the top floor was inserted during this time, while the left-hand window on the ground floor is set within a blocked door surround. The adjacent warehouse on the corner of Duke Street, now part of the same block of flats, has undergone significant alterations and is not included in this listing.
