Description

This is a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century, located on Queen Street, Lancaster. They are built of sandstone ashlar in narrow courses, with raised quoins. The roofs are slate-covered, with a coped gable and a gable stack now visible only on the left-hand house. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement, and four bays wide. The windows contain 12-pane and 9-pane sashes with plain surrounds. The doorways have doors with six raised and fielded panels, each topped with a fanlight; the fanlight on the left-hand door has radiating glazing bars. The doorways are combined into a central feature with a single open pediment supported by fluted brackets above pilasters.
