Description
112 and 114 St Leonards Gate are two houses built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and topped with a slate roof. The houses are designed as a mirrored pair, each featuring three storeys above cellars and three bays. The doorways are located in the outer bays, while the two central bays project slightly forward under a moulded pediment. The windows have plain reveals and projecting sills, with some being sashed and others featuring 20th-century casements that imitate sashes. Each doorway has panelled double doors topped by an elliptical fanlight with Gothick glazing, which extends into the open pediment of the stone doorcase, supported by engaged Tuscan columns. A flight of steps leads up to each doorway, with a landing that runs parallel to the front wall. The steps have nosings, and the iron railings feature standards with urn finials. The houses also have chimneys on the gables, which are finished with copings and kneelers.
