Description
The Poulton Hall Archway is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 14th century. It is made of sandstone and features a pointed arch with two orders of sunk quadrant mouldings and a hood mould, surrounded by late 20th century stonework. This archway originally served as the entrance to the old Poulton Hall and was moved to Morecambe Town Hall in 1932. It was returned to its original location in 1997. Poulton Hall was the Manor House of Poulton le Sands and was partially owned in the 15th and 16th centuries by the direct paternal ancestors of President George Washington, whose main residence was at Warton.
