Description

This is a pair of gate piers and a wall located at the roadside, west of the United Reformed Church, dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The structure is built from squared coursed sandstone and sandstone ashlar. The gate piers are square in shape and feature chamfered rustication, moulded bases, and cornices. Each pier is flanked by a wall that is lower than the piers, topped with a torus-moulded coping. The iron railings and gate are likely late 19th-century replacements, and the piers are connected by an iron overthrow.
