Description

This is a former coach house, now a house, dating to the late 18th century. It was originally part of Halton Hall. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings and a slate roof. It comprises a central three-bay block, with alternating quoins and a hipped roof, flanked by lower hipped wings and tall, concave walls. Windows and the archway have plain stone surrounds. The ground floor features three semi-circular arches with raised keystones and an impost band. The central, wide archway is now blocked and contains the present front door; the outer arches serve as window heads. A sill band runs across the first-floor windows. All windows are 20th-century casements with small panes. A 19th-century two-storey canted stone bay window, originally from Halton Hall, is located on the rear wall (to the south).
