Description
9-9A King Street is a pair of shops located in Lancaster, likely built in the late 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed sandstone and features a slate roof with a single brick gable stack. It stands three storeys tall.
On the ground floor, there are two shop fronts; the right-hand one is from the late 20th century, while the left-hand one dates to the late 19th century and includes a timber fascia with end brackets and a recessed doorway on the left. The first floor has two large timber windows, each with three lights, a transom, and a timber cornice, with glazing bars still visible above the transom. The second floor features three windows with two lights each, which have painted surrounds that appear to be timber and mimic early 18th-century windows with architraves and flat-faced mullions. The casements also have glazing bars. Above the windows is a bracketed timber cornice.
