Description
The sundial located on the terrace south of Thurland Castle was constructed in 1860. It is made of sandstone and features a brass plate and gnomon. The base of the sundial is octagonal in shape and has three steps. The octagonal shaft has fluted sides and a moulded cap. The plate is inscribed with the words: 'Erected May 15th 1860. North Burton Esq.'
