Description

The farmhouse at Lower Thrushgill dates to 1798. It is constructed from rough, rubble stone and has a roof of stone slate. The building has a double-depth plan, with two bays arranged over two storeys. The windows are arranged with three lights, featuring flat-faced mullions and simple stone surrounds. The first-floor windows have glazing bars. A doorway, situated between the two bays, is framed by a plain stone surround. Above the door is an oval plaque inscribed 'RF 1798'. Each gable features chimneys and copings, complete with kneelers. A lower, single-bay addition is attached to the right; it contains paired sash windows without glazing bars, separated by a flat-faced mullion and set within a plain stone surround, and has a gable chimney. A large stair window is located at the rear, framed by a plain stone surround and featuring three lights arranged horizontally, with a further light above and below the centre one, creating a cross shape.
