Description

Church Kirk Bridge, number 112, is a canal bridge located on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, dating from around 1810. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks and features an elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs. The bridge has bands and parapets topped with ridged copings, which have been renewed on the south side. At the southern end, there are sloped retaining walls that curve on the east side, leading to steps down to the towpath, which changes sides at this point. Additionally, a pipe now crosses the arch on both sides, piercing the abutments.
