Description
Clock House Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century or earlier, although it has undergone significant alterations since then. The building features rendered brick walls and slate roofs, with a part-corbelled chimney on the right gable and another chimney on the ridge of the rear wing. It has a T-shaped plan consisting of two bays, along with a two-bay rear wing. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a single-storey porch that has a hipped roof, positioned slightly right of centre. There is a small stairlight to the left above a V-shaped feature, and all the windows have been altered. The rear wing has two lower storeys, a doorway aligned with the chimney stack, and altered windows.
Inside, the first-floor partition between the bays of the front section contains a very large arch-braced truss with a steeply cambered tie beam, which is supported at both ends by wall posts. The arched braces connecting to the beam are quite deep and have chamfered soffits. Rising from the apex of the truss is a post, possibly a kingpost. Within the arch, there is a timber doorcase that is retained on each side by a rail, which is likely a later addition.
