Description
Holly Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, likely dating from the late 17th century and altered over time. It is built of handmade brick and features a stone slate roof. The structure has a three-bay baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys tall. There is a panelled door aligned with a ridge chimney located at the junction of the second and third bays, with an oval nameplate above on the first floor that reads "HOLLY." The building has three altered windows on each floor, all of which are three-light sliding farm sashes. The window to the left of the door has been enlarged, while the one to the right features a long brick label, with the timber head and right jamb of an earlier window still visible. The right gable wall includes external steps leading to a former loft, and the rear of the building has been altered and covered by additions. The ridge chimney stack has been modified, and there is a cut-down chimney at the rear left corner. Inside, the structure has been altered, but an inglenook hearth remains, although it lacks a bressummer. There are two longitudinal beams with stopped moulding that run directly into the brick chimney breast, and similar beams can be found in the third bay. The longitudinal partition in the first bay has been removed, but a cross-corner parlour fireplace remains, albeit in an altered state.
