Description

A farmhouse and barn, now two houses, originating in 1705 and subsequently altered. The building is constructed of handmade brick, now largely obscured by colour-washed render and roughcast, with an asbestos tile roof that covers what was originally thatched. Prominent gable chimneys are present. The building is arranged in three bays; No. 1 comprises two bays, while No. 3 occupies the right-hand bay, which was originally a small barn. It is two storeys in height. All openings have been altered, although a horizontal rectangular window on each floor of No. 1 may retain its original positions. An inscription, copied from the interior, is displayed on the first floor. Internally, the building has been altered. No. 1 retains a post-and-rail timber-framed internal partition wall and a roof truss. Within the housepart, there are ovolo-moulded beams and a salt cupboard featuring a stepped panel lettered in relief "A I A 1705."
