Description

The farmhouse, now a house, probably dates to the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made at various later dates. It was originally part of a larger property, later divided into two dwellings (the southern half is not included in this listing). It is built with a cruck-frame, with external walls of random sandstone rubble and quoins, the front being rendered. The roof is slate-covered. The original design was a two-bay baffle-entry plan. The building is two storeys high. While the exterior is of less architectural interest, the interior contains significant historical features. These include a full cruck truss incorporated into a partition wall, with the blades and yoke exposed, but the rest concealed. There is also an inglenook fireplace with a heck wall incorporating a post and a chamfered bressummer. A former baffle-entry doorway, now used for shelving and with a wooden lintel, is still present. Two boxed beams and a chamfered beam with run-out stops are also noteworthy features.
