Description
Bank Head Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1639, with a later addition on the right end. It is built of stone and has a concrete tile roof with two ridge chimney stacks. The building now has four bays but was originally two bays and likely of baffle-entry type. It is two storeys high, with the walls raised by four courses of masonry. The structure features a plinth and large quoins at the first and second bays. The original front door is located at the right end of the second bay and has a stone lintel with worn lettering: T G R ? 1639. To the left of the door, the ground floor has two double-chamfered stone mullion windows with three and four lights, while the first floor has two three-light casements. The right addition, probably from the 18th century, has two three-light casements in chamfered stone cases on each floor. The side and rear of the building are rendered, with the rear wall featuring three ground floor stone mullion windows with two, three, and two lights, as well as seven other windows, all of which are top-hung casements. The interior has been altered, with a staircase installed at the rear of the stack beside the front door.
