Description

Old Lemon House is an early 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house and office. The building features a mix of brick, some of which is rendered, with a stone plinth, quoins, and dressings. It has a slate roof topped with a single ridge chimney stack. The layout is L-shaped with a baffle-entry plan, where the first bay includes a forward crosswing.

The entrance has a modern board door with a restored drip mould at the junction of the second and third bays, and there is another door located in the re-entrant of the wing. The ground floor has double-chamfered stone mullioned windows with varying numbers of lights—4, 5, 3, and 2. The flat floor features rendered brick mullioned windows, also with 4, 5, 3, and 3 lights. On the left side wall, there is a brick band, two stone mullioned windows, and one brick mullioned window. The right gable displays mullioned windows on the first floor and in the attic, both with hood moulds.

The rear wall has brick bands on two levels that step over the windows, which include one window with 5 lights and three with 2 lights, all featuring double-chamfered stone mullions. Additionally, there are seven other windows with rendered brick mullions and a door leading to the third bay.

Inside, the house has quarter-round stop-moulded beams on both floors. There is an inglenook fireplace with a similar bressummer, a fire window, and a stone fireplace with moulded and shouldered jambs and a moulded cornice. In the third bay, there is another stone fireplace with elaborately curved jambs and head.
