Description
Ye Olde Hob Inn is a public house believed to date from the 17th century, with alterations. The building is constructed of pebbledashed stone, with the first floor rendered and applied timber, topped by a thatched roof featuring gable chimneys and two ridge chimneys. It has a linear plan consisting of five bays, with the fourth and fifth bays slightly projecting forward as an addition. The inn has two low storeys and includes a four-step mounting block attached to the left corner. There are doors located at the junction of the second and third bays, as well as in the fourth bay. The first three bays feature modern windows in low horizontal openings, along with one small square window at ground level, and bracketed oriels above them. The fourth and fifth bays have rectangular ground floor windows and deeply recessed casements above them, all of which are fitted with diamond leaded lights. Inside, the second and third bays contain some stop-chamfered beams, while the rest of the interior has been altered, except for possibly some first floor partitions.
