Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres west of Howe Brook Farmhouse, dates from the early 17th century or earlier. It features a combination of construction materials, including part timber framing set on a high stone plinth, random rubble, and brick, topped with a stone slate roof. The barn consists of three bays. The north side showcases post-and-rail timber framing with straight bracing to the wallplate, and while there are some remnants of clamstaff-and-daub panels below the rail, most of the surface is weather-boarded. There are opposed wagon entrances in the centre of this side. The south side is constructed of random rubble and includes slit breathers, while the gable has been rebuilt in brick.
