Description

The gate piers at the entrance to the drive leading to Heskin Hall are possibly from the late 17th century. They are made of dressed stone, square in shape, and approximately 3 metres high. The piers are substantial and feature a Renaissance style, with panelled pedestals that have moulded feet and tops. The pillars are also panelled and include moulded cornices, fluted friezes, and egg-and-dart bands located beneath the prominent moulded caps. These caps support two-stage moulded pedestals that once held finials, although some parts are damaged or missing.
