Description
No 201, formerly known as Cook's Farm, is a mid-18th century farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It features white-painted brick and a low-pitched stone slate roof. The building has an L-shaped, two-bay plan, with a rear outshut to the second bay and a lean-to addition at the left end. It stands two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade. The central entrance consists of a studded board door with strap hinges, flanked by two segmental-headed, two-light casements with glazing bars on each floor; the upper casement has ornamental louvred shutters. There is a chimney on the left gable and a modern pipe chimney on the right gable. The stone lean-to at the left end includes a two-light casement in the front wall and a two-light sliding sash in the side wall. The rear of the building is mostly obscured by additions but features a two-light sliding sash at the first floor of the outshut. Inside, there is a direct entry into the house part in the first bay, while the second bay is partitioned, containing a staircase and a former dairy in the outshut. The interior retains original board doors, beams, and joists in the second bay, with one beam showing evidence of former use in a wattle-and-daub wall. This building is listed as a relatively unaltered example of a small 18th-century farmhouse.
