ECCLESTON TOWNGATE SD 51 NW 9/107 No. 119 (Bank House) - GV II

Savings Bank, now house. Dated 1849 at 1st floor, altered. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, low-pitched slate roof with central chimney. Double-depth, 3 bays. Two storeys, symmetrical, in Gothic style; central doorway altered as a window, with moulded Tudor-arched head, and on each floor two windows of 2 pointed arched lights, all these openings with the heads cut in one block, and with square hoodmoulds; in the centre a recessed plaque imitating on a smaller scale the door below and inscribed

SAVINGS BANK 1849
