Description
Bank House, originally a savings bank, was built in 1849 and has since been altered. The building is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins and features a low-pitched slate roof topped by a central chimney. It is a double-depth structure with three bays and two storeys, designed in a Gothic style. The facade is symmetrical, with a central doorway that has been altered into a window, featuring a moulded Tudor-arched head. On each floor, there are two windows with two pointed arched lights, all of which have their heads cut from a single block and are adorned with square hoodmoulds. In the center of the building, there is a recessed plaque that mimics the design of the door below, inscribed with "SAVINGS BANK 1849." A modern single-storey addition on the right side matches the style and materials of the original building but is not included in the listing. Bank House is part of a group with Eccleston Old School, located immediately to the south.
