Description
Rosedale is a small villa dated 1852, located on Hawthorne Road in Burnley. The building features coursed squared sandstone, which is now ribbon pointed, and has a hipped slate roof. It has a rectangular double-depth, double-fronted plan with a small outbuilding attached to the rear. The villa stands two storeys high with a cellar and has three symmetrical windows. It includes a plinth, rusticated quoins, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice.
The central doorway is sheltered by a shallow rectangular porch, which has corner pilasters with moulded imposts and elongated entablatures, a moulded cornice, and a segmental parapet inscribed "AD 1852." The porch also features a cast-iron balustrade. The entrance has 20th-century panelled double outer doors and a panelled inner door with an overlight. The windows have raised sills and plain surrounds, although the glazing has been altered. There are side-wall chimneys with dentilled cornices, and a small single-storey outhouse is linked to the rear. Inside, there is a doglegged staircase and a cellar.
