Description

Green Hill Bowling Club is a building that was originally a farmhouse, likely dating from the early 17th century. It was remodeled in the 19th century, with some alterations made internally in the 20th century. The structure is constructed of sandstone random rubble with quoins, all painted white, and features a stone slate roof. It is probably based on a three-bay baffle-entry plan, with a projecting porch and additional structures at the rear.

The building stands two stories tall and has a symmetrical façade with a 1:1:2 window arrangement. The prominent full-height gabled porch, which is offset to the left, includes a very wide 19th-century Tudor-arched doorway with a moulded surround. Above this, on the first floor, there is a recessed two-light mullioned window featuring a cavetto mullion, arched lights with hollow spandrels, and a hood-mould, along with gable coping and kneelers.

The other windows on both floors are three-light mullioned windows with cavetto mullions and hood-moulds. The ground floor windows have tall arched lights and hollow spandrels, while the upper floor windows have square-headed lights. The gable copings also have kneelers, and there are tall gable chimneys. The left gable wall features a tall cross-window for the staircase and a projecting addition with a four-light window on each floor of its gable wall. The right-hand return wall has a blocked doorway leading to the main range and a small one-light window above it. The added rear range contains similar mullioned windows, a blocked doorway, and a small back extension. The interior has been radically remodeled, with partition walls removed.
