Description

This building is a small cotton spinning mill, now used as a scrap metal warehouse, likely built around 1833 for John Hargreaves. It has been altered over time and is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a slate roof. The warehouse has a rectangular plan and is located on the east bank of the River Calder.

The structure has three storeys above a semi-basement, featuring a window arrangement of 1:4. On the left side, there are four loading doors with 20th-century surrounds. To the right, there are tiered doorways leading to the basement and the raised ground floor, both with plain surrounds and an intermediate lintel that has a chamfered soffit. The basement and ground floor each have three windows, while the upper floors have four windows each, although the topmost windows are now boarded. All windows have plain sills and heads, and there are two tie-plates visible.

Attached to the west gable wall, which overlooks the river, is a small two-storey gabled engine house supported by iron columns. The east gable wall features stone slates from the gable end of a former row of weavers' cottages known as Club Houses, with four windows on the top floor and one in the gable above. The interior has not been inspected.
