Warehouse or perhaps part of former cotton mill, later restaurant and bar. Early to mid C19; altered and recently restored. Coursed squared sandstone, composition tile roof. Rectangular plan. 3 storeys and 4 windows plus a loading bay to the left. The left corner has rusticated quoins up to about two-thirds height, but they are reversed as if belonging to another building formerly adjoining to the left; next to this corner are 3 vertically aligned doorways, that at ground floor with an altered plain surround and those above with convex moulded surrounds; to the right are 3 windows at ground floor and at the right-hand end an inserted or altered doorway; and the upper floors all have 4 windows with chisel-dressed sills and lintels, and C20 6-pane glazing. INTERIOR not inspected. Forms group with former Empire Theatre (Coral Bingo, St James Street (qv)) to the left and rear, and with Free Trade Street to the south (which is rear of Nos 31-47 Hammerton Street (qv)).
