Entrance archway to Towneley Park, with screen wall and attached cottage. Probably early C19; cottage altered 1856 (dated over window in north side). The archway, of coursed dressed sandstone blocks, in Gothick style, has a large round-headed arch with cavetto-moulded surround, a blank shield each side, and an embattled parapet, and is flanked by octagonal turrets which have blind loop-lights and pseudo-machicolation to embattled parapets. Attached to the north side is a low round-headed pedestrian doorway with a moulded rectangular surround and a parapet with ridged coping. A short screen wall to the south links to the cottage, which is of coursed squared sandstone with a stone slate roof, rectangular in plan and of 2 low storeys, gable to the road; with a chamfered doorway in the north side, 2 coupled windows at ground floor (those inside the screen wall segmental-pointed and lettered "1856 CT" on the head) a tall 2-centred arched window in each gable wall; and gable copings with kneelers.
