Description
Nos. 108-114 on Hebrew Road, which also includes Nos. 1-5 Lee Green Street, is a small block of back-to-back houses, consisting of three houses facing Hebrew Road and three facing Lee Green Street. These houses were likely built in the early to mid-19th century and are currently derelict and blocked up. The structure is made of coursed squared sandstone with a slate roof and features a double-depth plan, while the houses on each street are single-depth and single-fronted.
The buildings are three stories high, with one window on each floor and a plain gutter cornice. The houses facing Hebrew Street have doorways on the left (all blocked) and one window on each floor, which diminishes in height from floor to floor. All openings have plain stone surrounds, and the windows have slightly raised sills. The houses facing Lee Green Street are similar, but the first house on the left has altered windows on the first and second floors.
The interior has not been inspected. This block is included as a rare surviving example of relatively unaltered back-to-back housing that typified Burnley in the first half of the 19th century.
