Description

A row of three cottages, likely dating from the late 18th century or very early 19th century, and altered since. The cottages are built of coursed squared sandstone rubble, with large quoins (number 304 is rendered), and have a stone slate roof with late 19th-century brick chimneys. Each cottage has a double-depth rectangular plan and a single front. They have two low storeys and one or two windows across the front. Doorways are positioned to the right, featuring plain monolith jambs and lintels with a small, stop-chamfer. The ground-floor windows are 4-pane sashes, while the upper windows are low, oblong 8-pane sashes placed immediately under the overhanging eaves. Ridge chimneys are present. Number 304 includes a complete cellar in two rooms, the rear room featuring stone keeping slabs; the cellars of the other cottages are uninspected but may be similar. The cottages form a group with numbers 274-298 located adjacent to the left, and numbers 295-317 on the opposite side of the road.
