Description
No. 126 on Warrington Road is a detached house built in the mid-18th century, with some later modifications. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a slate gable-end roof. The house has a double-depth layout with stairs located at the rear of a central entrance hall, and the services are also at the rear. It stands two storeys tall and has a front facade with a two-window range. The windows are Yorkshire sashes, although some of the glazing bars have been removed. The ground floor windows are set under segmental brick arches. The central doorway, which originally had a porch that has since been removed, features a pegged surround and a half-glazed, panelled door. The rear windows have been modified, and there is a glazed porch. Inside, the ground floor rooms have ceiling beams and joists, and all rooms, except one, retain their original planked doors in pegged surrounds. There is a well-crafted dog-leg staircase with splat balusters, complete to the landing, square-section newels, and a moulded string.
