Description
The chapel, located approximately 117 metres to the south-west of the lodge to Ince Cemetery, was built between 1855 and 1857 by A. Waterhouse. It is designed in a Norman style and constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The chapel features a four-bay nave and a round chancel apse. Architectural details include pilaster strips and a Lombard frieze, while the round-headed windows are supported by shafts. On the south side, there is a small window to the right of the second bay, with a corresponding window on the north side. The south entrance is gabled, featuring a corbelled round arch and a gable cross. The west end has a single-order entrance with weathering above and a rose window adorned with dogtooth moulding. The apse is supported by low weathered buttresses and includes pilaster strips, a corbel table, and an impost band. The windows in the apse have shafts and zig-zag mouldings on the arches, and there is a roundel above the gable.
