Description

Lock Number 21 on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal is a canal lock built in 1816 for the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, designed by engineer John Rennie. The structure is made of coursed sandstone blocks, although the coping has been replaced with concrete. At the upper end, there are oak gates and beams, while the lower end features iron gates and beams. Each side of the lock has three small mooring bollards, and there is an overflow channel located on the south side.
