Description
The Clock Tower on the station forecourt was built in 1880 and is constructed of brick with stone dressings and a lead roof. This three-stage tower features four clock faces at the top stage and a staircase in the lower stages. The first stage has a projecting plinth, a moulded band, a dogtooth band, a door on the southeast side, and tall window openings on the other sides, all with stone surrounds, polychromatic voussoirs, and sash windows. The second stage also has semi-circular headed windows, which are set within a recessed brick panel. A heavy cornice supported by coupled brackets separates the clock stage, which is adorned with a dentilled pediment above each clock face.
