Description
The water fountain located at the junction with Stamford Road was built in 1872 in memory of Francis Marriott. It is constructed from ashlar and polished granite and features a Gothic style canopy with gables over four cusped arch recesses that house the fountains and bowls. On either side of the inscription, which reads "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord ... for he shall be as a tree planted by the waters," are polished granite columns. The base of the fountain has octagonal corner columns, and a three-step plinth that includes two drinking troughs, which are now used as planters.
