Description
Piers, railings, and walls bounding St. Mary's graveyard on the west, east, and north sides were built around 1860, likely by W.H. Brakspear. They are made of red sandstone and cast iron. There are a total of 11 piers, some of which were originally gate piers. Each pier is approximately 1.5 meters tall, has an octagonal shape, and features a weathered base and capping, with carved Tudor flower panels near the top. The railings remain only between piers 1 and 2, 2 and 3, and 6 and 7; these railings have crested tops and fleur-de-lis finials. The wall runs between the piers, providing a base for the railings and is also weathered. The graveyard wall beyond the last of the piers is not included in this description.
