Description
The war memorial, located to the north-east of Saint Mary's Church, was constructed around 1920 and designed by Arthur Hennings. It is made of sandstone and features an octagonal base with offsets. From this base rises a tapering, buttressed octagonal shaft that is topped with a cross. At the base of the memorial stands a figure of St. George, modeled after Donatello, which is sheltered by a canopy above a heraldic shield. The base of the memorial is inscribed.
